Why has my review disappeared from the site?
When you submit a review, it’s published immediately. To keep the platform helpful and trustworthy, we make it easy for community members to report reviews they believe violate our Community Agreements.
How reviews are flagged and reviewed
Any Show-Score member can flag a review by clicking the flag icon next to it and providing a reason. Once flagged, the review is temporarily hidden while our team conducts a manual review. This usually takes 24–72 hours. All moderation decisions are made at Show-Score’s sole discretion and are final.
Why a review might be removed
Reviews may be removed if they violate our Community Agreements, including (but not limited to):
- The reviewer did not see the full performance (e.g., left early, attended a dress rehearsal or preview performance).
- The reviewer has a conflict of interest (e.g., is involved in the production or knows someone who is).
- The review uses unhelpful or disrespectful language, such as:
- Language that ridicules or attacks, rather than critiques
- Commentary about individuals rather than their work
- Discriminatory language or profanity
- Political or ideological commentary that is unrelated to the show’s content, themes, or intent
- Remarks about an individual’s race, age, gender, appearance, disability, religion, or other personal traits that are unrelated to the show’s content, themes, or intent
What happens next?
- If your review meets our guidelines, it will be reinstated and can no longer be flagged.
- If your review has been suppressed, you’ll be invited to revise it to meet our guidelines. Once updated, it will be reviewed again. If it’s approved, it will be republished and protected from further flagging.
- If your review violates our Community Agreements, it will not be reinstated.
In rare cases…
If we suspect a shilling campaign — meaning a coordinated effort to boost or harm a show's score or public perception — we may request proof that your review complies with our Community Agreements. This could include evidence such as a ticket confirmation or a timestamped photo at the venue. Edited reviews will not be reinstated until the requested proof is provided.
A final note
We’ll never ask you to change your score or your opinion about the show. Our goal is to ensure your review is honest, clearly written, and helpful to the community.
You can update your review anytime by clicking “Score it” and editing your original submission. If your review is updated to meet our guidelines, it will be republished and protected from future flagging.
